How to create Run shortcuts for any file/folder



One of the clear motto of Intelligent computing is the doing same task on your computer in fastest possible way, so you can save lots of time and you can spend those time for learning new things. For power user, every milliseconds count. That is why we have all time focused on those posts. We have post like Windows Keyboard shortcut, Windows 7 Shortcuts, Windows Run shortcuts, Remove USB drive quickly etc. on our blog. You must read them all, and don’t forget, your speed will be increase exponentially when you starts using those shortcuts.

Today we are with same motto that whatever file you need to use frequently, whatever programme you need to open frequently you can either create the shortcut on desktop, or pin to start menu. If you are of my type, who love clean desktop, or want to go more quickly, this post is just for you.
Important information!!
Run command are basically have base directory root:/windows and root:/system32 where root is the primary drive where your windows resides.
Whenever you type any filename to open in the run command, it looks for that name in these location first, if does not exist it show you error! Example you can type notepad, write, mspaint, etc to open those programmes because they all are file name exist on these directory. Another case when you type the path in Run dialogue, it simply executes that.
So the base of working will be same and we will be using the same feature of the windows to utilize our need.
You should know that, the shortcuts of any file or folders, are the file that simply are of type filename.lnk. Means files having extension “.Lnk” which holds information about the path to be redirected when file is executed.
Let’s now get to work
Step 1
Right click on all the files and folder (one after one) that you want to create the Run shortcuts of.
Step 2
In the context menu appear, select Send to and select Desktop (create shortcut)
Step 3
Your desktop will be full of those shortcuts, now create a new folder and put all those files in it to make sure all the files in the folders are just what you are going to deal with.
Step 4
Now rename [See shortcuts] all those files according to your convenience so that you can remember the name what to type in the run command for opening those files.
Step 5
Make sure that name should be unique and should not match any of the existing file/folder name.
Step 6
Now Copy all those files to the C:/Windows/ folder (assuming C is root)
You may need to provide the Administrator Right if prompt.
And you are done!

I M P O R T A N T
If any of your filename is already there, you have to change the file name of your shortcut. (DO NOT ALTER THE FILE IN C:/WINDOWS FOLDER, This Will affect Windows Functionality)
