One
of the clear motto of Intelligent computing is the doing same task on your
computer in fastest possible way, so you can save lots of time and you can
spend those time for learning new things. For power user, every milliseconds
count. That is why we have all time focused on those posts. We have post like Windows
Keyboard shortcut, Windows
7 Shortcuts, Windows
Run shortcuts, Remove
USB drive quickly etc. on our blog. You must read them all, and don’t
forget, your speed will be increase exponentially when you starts using those
shortcuts.
Today we are with same motto that whatever file you need to use
frequently, whatever programme you need to open frequently you can either
create the shortcut on desktop, or pin to start menu. If you are of my type,
who love clean desktop, or want to go more quickly, this post is just for you.
Important information!!
Run
command are basically have base directory root:/windows and root:/system32
where root is the primary drive where your windows resides.
Whenever
you type any filename to open in the run command, it looks for that name in
these location first, if does not exist it show you error! Example you can type
notepad, write, mspaint, etc to open
those programmes because they all are file name exist on these directory.
Another case when you type the path in Run dialogue, it simply executes that.
So
the base of working will be same and we will be using the same feature of the
windows to utilize our need.
You
should know that, the shortcuts of
any file or folders, are the file that simply are of type filename.lnk. Means files having extension “.Lnk” which holds information about the path to be
redirected when file is executed.
Let’s
now get to work
Step 1
Right
click on all the files and folder (one after one) that you want to create the
Run shortcuts of.
Step 2
In
the context menu appear, select Send to and
select Desktop (create shortcut)
Step 3
Your
desktop will be full of those shortcuts, now create a new folder and put all
those files in it to make sure all the files in the folders are just what you
are going to deal with.
Step 4
Now
rename [See shortcuts] all those files according to your convenience so that
you can remember the name what to type in the run command for opening those
files.
Step 5
Make
sure that name should be unique and should not match any of the existing
file/folder name.
Step 6
Now
Copy all those files to the C:/Windows/
folder (assuming C is root)
You
may need to provide the Administrator Right if prompt.
And
you are done!
Make your own Run command : intelligent computing |
I M P O R T A N T
|
If any of your
filename is already there, you have to change the file name of your shortcut.
(DO NOT ALTER THE FILE IN C:/WINDOWS FOLDER, This Will affect Windows Functionality)
